Composer/conductor Andriy Talpash (Edmonton) leads the combined forces of Calgary’s Ensemble Resonance and The Rubbing Stone Ensemble in a concert of new and recent Canadian music. On the program are two works by Linda Bouchard (Montréal/San Francisco), whose vivid and energetic music has been acknowledged on national and international stages. New Works Calgary will present Bouchard’s Le Scandale II and Liquid States. Gordon Fitzell (Winnipeg) provides an evocative mix of extended instrumental playing and live electronics in his work Evanescence. The concert also includes the classic O King by Luciano Berio with Michelle Todd, soprano, and the world premiere of Bethlem Diaries, a new work written especially by Talpash for the combined forces of the two Calgary new music ensembles. 

 

Artists featured in this concert include:  Michelle Todd (voice), Sean Clark (flute), Stan Climie (clarinet), Jeremy Brown (saxophone), Graeme Tofflemire (percussion), Eric Bumstead (percussion), Gianetta Baril (harp), Colleen Athparia (piano), Lana Henschell (piano), Ronelle Schaufele (violin/viola), Olena Kilchyk (violincello) and Yin Hong Foo (double bass).
