After the Equinox: Rubbing Stone Ensemble
with guest soprano Martha RennerNew works by Alain Perron, Arlan Schultz, Chantale Laplante, and R. Murray Schafer, Toru Takemitsu, György Ligeti – new sonorities and explorations, virtuosic solo works, sounds from Tibet.
The Rubbing Stone Ensemble is a new music ensemble in residence with New Works Calgary. It is named after the “rubbing stone” in Nosehill Park: “A glacial erratic, the rubbing stone stands as a reminder of the bison that sustained those early inhabitants of our city.” Featuring: saxophonist Jeremy Brown, Luciane Cardassi (piano), Rod Squance (percussion), Gianetta Baril (harp) and Ralph Maier (guitar).
